Bocardo

Bocardo

3D turn based card game with tactical movement. Play cards to tactically move and gain power to unleash a combo attack to defeat the enemy knights and prism tower before the realm is crumbled to pieces! This was the first game I produced as part of a team.

Development Process

-The first game I produced as part of a team

-My main contribution to the team was UI and UX designer, as well as contributions in programming, systems design, and level design

-Started project in the spring of 2020, and was released the following spring in 2021

-As the User Interface designer, I created multiple variations of high fidelity assets for our game. I received feedback from conducting external playtests and revied the results with the team to determine what assets would go in the game. When the assets were final and ready to be implemented into the game, I would import them into the Unity editor. After they were imported I programmed the assets so they were functional and ready to go in a separate scene. When the time was ready to put them in the game it was a simple copy and paste from the one scene to the other. Repeated this process for nearly every asset in the game!

-As the User Experience designer I conducted weekly playtests and brought the results and feedback back to the team to improve our game throughout the entire production phase. These playtests were critical in our design process and determining what was the best player experience that worked with our design

-As far as level design, I helped by creating a couple variations of prefabs that Blake, our lead programmer, used to create procedurally generated levels

-Helped form original game concepts, such as the prism tower and crumbling map

-Originally, I came up with the idea for the tower from watching the Lord of the Rings movies. The towers in the movie were symbolic to represent the end of humanity as long as the remained standing. We adapted this idea for our game, as the tower is what causes the destruction of the world until it can be destroyed
